If so you will likely qualify for an NSIS scheme — it depends on your plan, goals, and whether it can be considered Assistive Technology (AT) that is reasonable and necessary for your disability-related needs to get an ambient lounge® Avatar sofa. The NDIS describes AT as equipment that helps you do things more easily or safely, or that you otherwise can’t do due to disability. 

Here’s the quick pathway most people follow:

1. Check how your plan is managed

• If you’re self-managed, you can buy supports from registered or unregistered businesses (with a proper tax invoice). 
• If you’re NDIA-managed, you generally need to purchase AT through registered providers. 

1. Match it to the right budget category

• If the item is low cost AT (often referenced as under $1,500 per item), the NDIA notes you can usually explain what you need without detailed written evidence (unless it’s higher risk). Crucially - the Avatar fits that price range for up to two items so its an ideal purchase in these circumstances. 
• If it’s mid/high cost AT, you’ll typically need written evidence from a qualified AT advisor (often an OT) explaining why it’s the right solution.  (this is usually for 3 or more items which is unlikely to be deemed a necessity for an individual)
